Meher got his start with drumming at a summer camp before 5th grade. He found that the awesome thing about percussion is that it is everything. From the beat of a heart, to the rhythm of footsteps, percussion demands the versatility, flexibility, adaptability, and creativity of the world around us. Having found an unrivaled outlet for his creativity, Meher got to work.
In June of 2018, Meher advanced to the semi-final round of the International Great Plains Marimba Competition. It was amazing to play with high school and college students from all parts of the world who are passionate about playing the Marimba. Meher was selected for the NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles (ANHE) Concert Band and performed in Orlando, Florida on Nov 9-10, 2019. ANHE is highly selective and represents the top performing High School musicians who are selected through an audition from the pool of top-tier students who made All-State in Music in their respective States. Students are selected from all 50 States and Meher had the honor of being the only percussionist representing the State of Illinois.
Besides playing at his high school, Meher is the principal percussionist for the highly selective Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) and Molto Percussion Ensemble. He has performed in some of the most prestigious venues across Chicagoland, in addition to international performances in 7 European countries.
